King Arthur

Many argued about the time when King Arthur lived... some even say that his stories are nothing more than just a legend...
But can a story so powerful such as his, that has captivated the hearts of many, be just a mere tale?

There is much that it can be said about his famous deeds, Merlin the wizard, Excalibur, Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table... but in the first Dreamland book, the Sword in the Stone, we find the famous, courageous king before he was famous or even a courageous king!

As the story goes, many years ago Britain was without a rightful king after Uther Pendragon's death. The land was lost and people were fighting over the right to rule it. Then, Merlin the wizard, who was able to see the future and knew that Britain was in trouble before it actually was, magically placed a sword in a stone and anvil and said whoever pulled it out would be the rightful King. There was also an inscription on the stone that read: "WHOEVER SHALL PULL THIS SWORD OUT FROM THIS STONE AND ANVIL SHALL BE THE RIGHTFUL KING OF BRITAIN"

Many knights and kings from other lands fought for the right to pull it out but no one could do it... and in the end, a young boy pulled it out accidentally as he was looking for a sword to replace the one his brother broke during a battle, and became the rightful King. Turns out that he actually was the son of Uther Pendragon himself, and the wizard Merlin had hid him as a baby in the care of a gentle couple who took good care of him throughout his childhood.

Many say that Arthur was the best and most noble King that Britain has ever had. But do you think he actually existed? Research and talk to your family about it and see their opinions!
